The Broad Ripple RiverWalk Task Force
When the former Weaver’s Lawn & Garden property on Broad Ripple Avenue and White River went on the market in 2013, a small group of citizens mobilized to find a way to incorporate that strip of land into the Indy Parks system.
After that effort stalled, Bradley Warnecke, Bruce Buchanan, Bryan Chandler, and Thomas Healy met in January 2017 and agreed to begin an effort to preserve and develop that stretch of land for public use and enjoyment. Together with friends and allies, in the summer of 2018 they formed the Broad Ripple RiverWalk Task Force.
For 30 years, the community has aspired to develop this stretch of land as a public amenity. Members of the Task Force believe the time is right for this phase of the RiverWalk to be implemented, and that public enhancements like this are vital to the economic vitality and future of Midtown and the entire city.
